First design module of Stage 1, students were provided with a fixed palette of materials and asked to design a shelter for themselves and 2 other people in their group to spend overnight. The given materials consisted of 9 square meters of polythene sheeting, 12 bamboo poles and 3 cardboard sheets(1220x2400mm). This project highlights the importance of cooperative understanding and setting rules for the most basic form of shelter before designing anything else. Unlike the normally driven idea of creating a tent, our group was after the idea of creating a life size burger box out of the materials we were given, achieving the Postmodernism movement in our design.
